San Manuel Indian Bingo and Casino presents "La Diva de La Banda," Jenni Rivera, live in concert.
Jenni Rivera was born and raised in Long Beach, California from parents who emigrated from Mexico. She grew up speaking English and Spanish fluently and became greatly influenced by the music recorded by her famous father and brothers. Rather than jumping in their footsteps, Rivera decided to focus on education first.
Rivera graduated from Long Beach State with a business degree and began to sell real estate. At the same time she also helped her father run his record company, Cintas Acuario. She did everything from being a sales rep, to receptionist, publicist, CD packager and manager. Eventually she began recording and writing music due to much encouragement from her father.
With success running in the family, Jenni Rivera followed the path. She is considered to be the leading female artist in contemporary Regional Mexican “Banda/Corrido” music and has recorded over a dozen albums and attained sales of over 20 million copies worldwide. “La Diva de la Banda”, as her fans named her, has enjoyed a loyal following comprised of a multi-generational audience that admires her talent and musical integrity.
Her debut album, “Que Me Entierren con La Banda”, included her very first chart topping corrido hit, “Las Malandrinas”. Her second album, “Dejate Amar”, comprised of another chart topper, “Mi Querida Socia”. Her third album, “Se Las Voy a Dar a Otro”, earner her a Grammy® nomination for “Best Banda Album”.
Rivera’s latest album, “Jenni”, debuted at number one on the U.S. Top Latin Albums chart, making her the first artist in the history of “Billboard Latino” to have all of their albums reach the number one spot.
