The 34th Annual Irish Fair and Music Festival is set for the Irvine Meadows Fairgrounds, in Irvine, California. The Irvine Meadows Fairgrounds, formally the Lion Country Safari, is located between the VeirzonWireless Amphitheater and the Wild Rivers Waterpark and only 5 minutes from the Irvine Spectrum.
This year’s dates are June 20 & 21,(Fathers Day) and the site near the ocean will provide a pleasant “Irish Fair” going climate for all the Fair’s patrons. Irvine Meadows Fairgrounds is readily accessible to all of Orange County as well as central and southern Los Angeles County and Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego Counties and only 45-60 minutes from the San Fernando Valley or the San Gabriel Valley.
This Family Fun Festival features 16 entertainment area's with over 2000 performers providing the fair visitor with hundreds of musicians, dancers and sports. Leading the way are some of Southern California’s top Irish bands that include; The Fenians, Dublin 4 and Sligo Rags, just to name a few. And of course an Irish Fair wouldn’t be complete without those wonderful traditional Irish Step Dances that we have all came to love from those "Riverdance" performances.
And to round out the fair we’ll have those heart pounding Bag Pipe Bands and the big colorful Parade of the Irish, as all the costumed, flag carrying characters of the fair march through the grounds. There’ll be the mighty Wolfhounds, Ancient Irish Warriors and of course the lovely Rose of Tralee and her Court. It tis a sight to behold.
But there’s more, “Children’s Leprechaun Kingdom” with it’s games and rides and a Freckle Face Kid, Red Haired Kid, and an Irish Baby contest. And not to leave out the old guys there’ll be a “Knobby Knee” contest. ( Opps, well women can enter to, if they want to).
All and all, it’s a fun time for the whole family and Sunday being Fathers Day ask Dad what he’d rather do, go to some crowded restaurant or come to the Irish Fair and have a “Banger and a beer”.
All this in a lovely park setting with lakes, islands and Tree covered paved walkways and large grassy fields. Irish and American foods & beverages. See you there.
